Sessions are typically weekly, 50 minutes in length. In the process of our initial sessions, I will conduct an evaluation that includes taking a history, having you complete several forms, and working together to define initial goals for treatment.
Sessions are typically weekly, 50 minutes in length. However, the assessment process begins with one 90-minute session. I will meet with couples together and then individually as part of the assessment. Each member of the couple will also be asked to complete some forms to provide additional information about the strengths and weaknesses of the relationship. The initial assessment process concludes with a couples session in which I provide some feedback to the couple and we define how we will proceed in therapy and what the initial treatment goals will be. Generally I meet with the couple jointly; however, there are also times when it is useful to schedule individual sessions with both members of the couple.
All fees are due at the time of the session, unless other arrangements have previously been made. Clients will be responsible for and expected to pay for any missed sessions unless they provide notice at least 24 hours in advance of their appointments.
I do not belong to any insurance panels. However, upon request, I will provide billing statements to clients to submit to their insurance carrier if they wish to apply for reimbursement. It should be noted that insurance companies require such statements to include diagnostic codes. Individuals should know that such diagnostic codes (for psychological issues or substance abuse problems) will become a permanent part of their health care record. Insurance companies now have the right to share this information with one another. This is why some clients prefer to pay for such services out-of-pocket.
